This new study recruited 354 US military service members engaging in airborne training 🪖

…before and during Improved Swing Landing Trainer (ISLT) training 🪂
Cognitive, balance, blood-based biomarkers were assessed 🔍
Key Findings
Approximately 35% of participants experienced head strikes during ISLT (defined as whiplash or helmet-to-ground impact) 🤕
Head strikes led to significant cognitive and balance deficits 😵💫
However, those supplementing with ketones showed significantly smaller deficits vs placebo ✅
No changes in blood biomarkers were observed across the study in either group 🩸❌
Conclusion
Ketone monoester supplementation before and during events with head impacts may support cognitive performance ✅
For example, pre-match and half-time during contact sports 🤔
However, this is still a bit early for definitive conclusions to be drawn☝️
